I will be home soon.
So Second Language Acquisition is zapping my brain, but it is important to know. It will be nice to have a day to just do laundry and have a hot cup of tea! There was so much to learn and so little time. The course we took in 2 weeks usually takes a whole quarter to do, but I might make it. :-{) Hope you are having a great week. Mel

How cool are you?
If I haven't said this recently, I will now. You guys are cool. Thank you to all of you who have prayed, given money, pushed and prodded me, loved me, encouraged me and helped make this process so much easier and fun. The body of Christ is an amazing thing and I love being a part of it. I arrive in Sacramento on Oct. 12 and look forward to worship at Westside on Sunday. Miss you all. In His Service, Meliss

My Brain is about to Explode
If there were ever a possibity that your brain could explode, this would be the time. I am on information overload and I think I actually heard my brain short. On the positive side, I am learning a lot of great things to help with culture adjustment, team dynamics, finances (ugh) and a lot about what makes me tick. That was the first three weeks, now we are doing SLA which stands for Second Language Aquisition. It is giving us the skills to more efficiently learn a language. It however does require a lot of homework and making funny sounds like a monkey. Please keep praying that I absorb all the info I need. Miss Ya, Mel

My Chicago Adventure
I had the best time running around Chicago. I didn't eat a hot dog or pizza pie, but I did go to the top of the Sear's Tower and hit a couple of museums. I had a really good time. I really love the architecture here. It really amazes me. Miss you all. Love, Mel

I finally have a blog I can update!
Hi everyone. Training is going pretty well. I have met some really cool people. All of them have amazing gifts and callings and are so excited to get started on their mission trips. We had four short term missionaries, but unfortunately they were only here for one week. Bye Ashley, Michelle, Jaclyn and Rebecca! You guys are awesome.
There are only long-term people here now and we will lose 5 of those before training is over. We had a long talk about racism in class today and went to visit a Hindu Temple. There were a lot of good and sad things about their religion. But it was good for us to see how dedicated they are to their god and how willing they are to give money to build the temple. We are blessed to build the Kingdom of God right here and now.
Thank you for all your prayers. I have almost had enough support come in to pay for my training. Please continue to pray for me. Mel
